Avoid picking Energy Field, as it's mostly useless. Rearm and Reload is the most popular, while Maelstrom exists as a surprisingly powerful alternative. The three level 2 core upgrades are all pretty weak, but that also means that choosing any of them won't have many good/bad consequences. Energy transfer can also be a fun albeit weak strategy in the Last Titan Standing gamemode.
